    no need to worry about this proposal, as some one said this is a proposal like thousands of bills gone inside the whirl wind of politics in Senate and Congress, but as a precaution, IV warned everyone to sign this and send it to senators so they are extra aware of this situation. discussing on this is a waste of time. because this not even a burning issue and no one can pass and amendment without making aware of all the Senators.

    Grassley is always against H1B and the latest Jan 8th memo is because of his push. but this proposal of his will not work out. and H1B memo is currently sued in the court.

    Folks, Please do not get extra alarmed ont his stupid proposal.
    Its better to be prepared rather ignore it. I understand what you are saying but it doesnt hurt to oppose.. if one doesnt oppose you never know.

    I left a message for my previous employer. I am not sure whether they will provide this information to me.
    That is the reason I was asking you to try to find from your ex-employer if you could get any news.General procedure from what I have read is to issue a NOID but they have given you a RFE which keeps you alive for now.Maybe your ex-emplyer cancelled your 140 after 180 days but again all this is a shot in the dark and only your ex-employer has the answer for this.

    Whatever is the report on CNN, why do you have to draw an analogy between US and Indian? I mean, you think that there are only two nations in the world - US and India? Or do you think that all people on IV forums are from India? Sorry, it is not my objective to offend anybody but I find these analogies very funny. Also, I think such immature posts hurt our cause. You bring the forum�s attention to a good point, however, the post screwed-up in driving away non-Indian members on the forum. Also, if you hold a negative opinion about the place of your birth, how would you be able to develop a respect towards the country you want to as your future home?

    Please be considerate towards the feelings of all nationalities on the forum. Just a suggestion....

    Oh My God, CNN is screwing us in different way now. They are telling american people the Rally last week at SC was for increse in H1B and not for Incresed GCs.
    I am getting freakled out by such American politics. I thought USA is different than INDIA atleast in this regard.

    Hope this thread will be useful for somebody who is looking for american company for green card processing. They wont get into the trap. So I am giving out the information from the known source(friends).

    Company1: Deloitte
    Company2: Chase

    These two companies promised doing green card cards,they filed h1s, but did not file green card.Whatever reason (bad economy) may be, they did not sponsor green cards for those they promised to do. So be careful. It is not gaurantee.
    Also, you can list the companies you know whoever promised, but did not file.

    Wow...I didn't realize this thread is opened until today. I can second you on Deloitte. I joined Deloitte & Touche several years back and left the company in 3 months. HR promissed me to file my GC as soon as I join them but started giving excuses once I joined. Later on they told me that they will file after 1 year and that too dependent on my performance....I decide to part my ways with liars and joined a different company and now after several years I'm glad that I made that decision...today I'm in a much better position in a much better company. Thought mine may be the only case but looking at this thread makes me feel I was not all alone.
    Not only this, they pay you different if you are an H1 holder as compared to others. I found this when I joined and found someone junior to me getting paid more than I was.

    I got a reply from USCIS saying that they can process the request sorted by priority date and country of birth of the applicant. Processing time will be around 15 months and that they have got their answer on priority date.

    what are the next steps?

    I dont think we should relay on their 15 months time line. Its too late. I am sure in coming 15 months whole immigration system will be changed. May be we will see point based system or something different. And at that time information will be no use. They are smart that is why they gave us 15 months. They will wait for 12 months to Congress to do something and then if nothing happen they will write SQL query in last 3 months.

    Tried every thing:
    1. Lawyer contacted USCIS. Waiting for security clearnace. USCIS does not expedite the issue
    2. Contacted Congressman- nada
    3. Contacted senetors - no help
    4. E-mailed FBI- No reply
    5. Faxed several letters- might have gone into trash bin
    6. Sent snail mail. They have received it. Probably using the paper for various other uses.

    That is the whole point to raise the issue in this forum, so that everyone in this forum aware of the problem.

    You can not expedite it. You may sue, but never seen anyone doing that. It is such a hopeless ridiculous unresponsive process.
    Mine is a very reputed industry. Does not matter who you are and whom you work for? They just do not care

    I can understand why an individual fake resonably to get a job, though I do not support it. I dont understand these stupid companies hiring the desperate students and doing all these stuff in the name of business. I dont know how people who have those companies do all this stuff just for extra money and sleep peacefully at night.

    I can put 100 arguments in support of MS students graduating and trying to get into a new job. Similarly you can come up with 100 other arguments that they are all non ethical and lies.

    It is more costly for companies big and small to hire a new grad, train and eventually have him work on the business and that process is carried only by a minute percentage of all the companies that do business and also they look at elite schools.

    Every MS student has to undergo a vigorous financial crisis situation there by the time they graduate they are left with no choice other than accepting what ever comes there way, at the earliest.

    They don't have the liberty financially as well as law wise to sit and try for 1 year to get into a full time job. Given those kind of situations it is nothing wrong in projecting themselves to certain years of experience.

    At the same, contracting, consulting is all about this. When no party likes, they can always let go.

    You want to start your own company and give jobs to Americans, but can't- Because you are on an H1-B, and you are not allowed to work for your own company if you start one, so you cannot support yourself.

    Please excuse my ignorance,,but what is 529

    529 is a college savings program that lets you put in money for your children's education. All contributions to the 529 account grow tax free, as long as they are used for higher education (bachelor's and above). Currently, the contribution is not exempt from Federal Income tax, but in Ohio, the first $2000 is exempt from state income tax. If the money is used for anything else other than higher education, there is a 10% penalty and the withdrawal is taxed as ordinary income. I think you can get away with the 10% penalty if the designated child gets a scholarship.

    Hello all,

    A few days ago I started a thread where laid off folks can post their qualifications and people who know of job openings can let them know.

    Unfortunately, yesterday I received an email saying that an RFE was raised about my 485. My PD is Sept 2005 in EB3. WTH is my case being processed now? I saw in some other threads also that people with further off PDs are getting RFEs. Can someone shed some light on what the RFE may be about?

    I used AC21 earlier last year after completing 180 days of filing 485 and got a new H1 approved. My 140 is approved and my previous employer has not revoked it. They only revoked the H1 and that too about 7 months ago. My new (now ex) employer hasnt revoked my H1 yet.

    How long does it take for the RFE to come? I suppose it will goto my old company's lawyer though they are nice folks and will let me know.

    RFE Usually you'll get with in a week
    RFE may not be due to Job change(s)/AC21 , may be because of some other issues like Birth certificate,Medicals etc
    Did you sent AC21 related documentation to CIS?
